Carrie Canham
Programs | Australia (University of Queensland), China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland (Edinburgh), SIT Programs in (India, Indonesia, Nepal, Samoa, Vietnam), Taiwan
Carrie joined Overseas Programs in 2012. She advises students who plan to study abroad during the academic year or summer, beginning with general questions, during the application process, while abroad, and after the return to WashU. She works with programs in Scotland, and countries across the Asia-Pacific region.
While working on her undergraduate degree in International Management and minor in French, Carrie studied abroad in France during EU’s largest expansion. Being able to witness the transition, while studying its effects in Economics, Finance, and Logistics, was something not taken for granted. After catching the travel bug, Carrie began working as a Graduate Assistant in the study abroad office while earning an MBA. The next adventure was teaching a course at Liaoning Normal University in Dalian, China. She knew then that maintaining work in international education may be the path to explore (finding herself on that path nearly 20 years later)!
Carrie enjoys walking and is always happy to “take a lap” on campus for meetings or getting a break from the screens. Away from campus, life is quite busy keeping up with two kids and their own extra-curriculars and whichever hobby captures their hyper-focus for a questionable amount of time, two dogs, and local community.
